January TFT Circuit – Top 3 Profile

January TFT Circuit – Top 3 Profile

These are the winners from our January TFT Invitational tournament. We asked our three finalists about their experience during the circuit, and here were their responses:

First Place – Kandiez

Name: Tommy “Kandiez” Cheung
Season’s best: Grandmaster 200lp
Favourite Synergies: Ocean mages
Thoughts on the current meta: The meta seems flexible and its constantly changing. As long as a patch doesn’t stay for longer than a month, we are all constantly adapting and that’s all part of the fun.
What do you want to accomplish in TFT in 2020? I peaked at top 300 a few times and I really want to break into challenger at some point!
What are your predictions for set 3 of TFT? Honestly, I started this game in December 201,9 and I’ve never seen or experienced set one. Id love for some champs with interesting ults like Orianna– it would be fun to include that in ocean mages!

Second Place – SelectMaple

Name: Matthew “SelectMaple” Wong
Season’s best: Challenger
Favourite Synergies: 4 Rangers with Twitch carry and 6 Light with Lucian and Senna
Thoughts on the current meta: I think it’s pretty fun!
What do you want to accomplish in TFT in 2020? Hopefully I can get to Top 20 on the ranked ladder.
What are your predictions for set 3 of TFT? Hopefully they add Riven (my favourite champion) in Set 3.

Third Place – itzBolt

Name: Benton “itzBolt” Chan
Season’s best: Grandmaster
Favourite Synergies: Mystic
Thoughts on the current meta: Meta had been pretty interesting so far with people playing around Yasuo, and by stacking carries and tanks differently.
What do you want to accomplish in TFT in 2020? I want to hit Challenger this year.
What are your predictions for set 3 of TFT? Should be back to a lot more flashy and visually appealing teamfights similar to set 1.

Our next TFT circuit is currently underway! If you’re interested in competing, come to TGS every Wednesday and Sunday night. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates on our events and circuits!
